Freeplay, a group of dog lovers from Los Angeles County, California, is working hard to establish an off-leash  area for dogs and their guardians to enjoy together at Dockweiler State Beach which spans the cities of El Segundo and Playa Del Rey in Los Angeles County. Freeplay has previously been successful with the creation of the Westminister Dog Park in Venice CA. Our mission is to gain more off-leash access for dogs and their guardians to recreate.

Freeplay was established on February 14, 1996 in response to the City of Los Angeles’ zero tolerance policy for off-leash dogs. This action left thousands of dogs and their caretakers stranded with no legal areas to exercise and socialize.

FREEPLAY seeks equality in recreational opportunities for the residents of Los Angeles County and their dogs. We are committed to enriching the quality of community life through responsible pet care and the establishment and maintenance of recreational areas where dogs and people can interact in a clean, safe, and pleasant environment.
